The train tracks in Agassiz are about to get merry and bright.
The schedule for the Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train's trans-continental journey has just been released, and it's scheduled to stop in Agassiz on Dec. 19 at about 5:45 p.m. outside the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association Hall at 6800 Pioneer Avenue.
Every year, the CPKC Holiday Train travels across North america, collecting money and other donations for food banks across the United States and Canada. Last year, Agassiz-Harrison Community Services received $7,000 from the Holiday Train's efforts.
In addition to a festive lights display all along the train, visitors to the Holiday Train are treated to musical performances. This year's performers are Magic! and Sofia Camara.
Magic! is a Toronto-born reggae fusion band consisting of Nasri Atweh, Mark Pellizzer and Ben Spivak best known for their 2013 smash hit, "Rude." The trio has released four alums to date with their most recent "Inner Love Energy" released in April of this year. Sofia Camara also hails from Toronto, finding success as a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Her latest viral single is "Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)," and she has garnered at 1.2 million-follower audience across social media platforms with her music drawing millions of views and streams.
After Agassiz, the Holiday Train makes its way up to Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows.
