Barbados Day, Garden Demos in the works at Birthplace of B.C. Gallery

On Aug. 4 and 5 Birthplace of B.C. Gallery artists will offer demonstrations in the garden from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Aug. 10 stop by and celebrate Barbados Day from noon to 4 p.m.

Birthplace of B.C. Gallery is celebrating Fort 91原创's lesser known heritage on Saturday, Aug. 10 with 'Barbados Day.'

The event begins at noon and everyone is invited to enjoy a lunch of jerk chicken barbecue, ham cutters and coconut water and support the Fort 91原创 Lions as they raise funds for the May Day Parade.

There will be a flag raising ceremony at 1 p.m. with Township of 91原创 mayor Jack Froese, B.C.'s first governor, James Douglas and a heritage entourage, including Governor Douglas' mother, Martha Ann, who was born in Barbados.

Barbados Day wraps up at 4 p.m.

This weekend, visitors are invited to stop by the gallery during Fort 91原创's long weekend celebrations and watch as artists give demonstrations in the garden, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4 and Monday, Aug. 5.

The Birthplace of B.C. Gallery is located at 9054 Glover Rd.
