Historic Fort 91原创 is celebrating the legacy of Sir James Douglas all day Saturday. Douglas, the first governor of British Columbia, was sworn in at Fort 91原创 in 1858. He was born in Guyana to a Creole mother and a Scottish father, and later married a M茅tis woman.

Continuing until 5 p.m. in partnership with the Guyanese Association, the event will offer a unique opportunity to explore B.C. history, honour cultural diversity, and reflect on the complexities of Douglas鈥檚 legacy. There will be guest speakers, Caribbean Indigenous fusion food for sale, culture performances, and more.
