After bad weather forced its postponement, twice, the Aldergrove Ramble 4.8K and 8K events finally proceeded on Sunday, March 16, at the Aldergrove Regional Park under cool, grey skies and moderate rain.
Co-organizer Paul Williams, owner-operator of Peninsula Runners in White Rock, described the conditions as "perfect for running in the trails."
We had two cancellation dates," Williams said. "This was our third, reserve date and we got perfect weather."
"This event supports Ocean Athletics, which is our big biggest club in Canada, which resides in White Rock, and South Surrey, and it also supports the 91Ô´´ Track Club," Williams explained.
An estimated 90 runners took part.
Among them were three members of an Aldergrove family, mom Laura, with daughter Teaghan and son Atlin, making their second appearance together in the Ramble.
"We've always enjoyed the outdoors," Laura explained.
"For the kids, this is a little bit of a team building piece for them. Both children play for 91Ô´´ Thunder Lacrosse. So this is a bit of cardio for them, for box season and for ball hockey."
Dad Nick, who was still recuperating from running an ultramarathon the day before the Ramble, was on hand to cheer them on.

Organized by Peninsula Runners, the Aldergrove trail run was the last in a series of three early 2025 events, taking place in park settings in the Fraser Valley, with net proceeds of the series supporting track and field in local communities.
