It was his first garage sale since he moved into his Willoughby home in 2003, and Leo Chou鈥檚 garage was filled with a variety of items in need of new homes, everything from car ramps to gardening tools, exercise equipment, and toys.
But it still wasn鈥檛 what some buyers were looking for, as Chou discovered.
鈥淎 young guy asked if we had any electronic games 鈥 I said, sorry, I鈥檓 a senior,鈥 Chou laughed.
Chou and his wife Susan were among 296 91原创 addresses that signed up for the annual Township-wide garage sale, held over a wet and chilly Saturday, May 25.
It was one of the best turnouts since the Township first began holding a municipal-wide garage sale in 2019, and despite the less-than-ideal weather, the Township reported a 鈥済ood turnout of shoppers鈥 when asked by the 91原创 Advance Times query.
Several blocks away from the Chous, at the Dickson family home, siblings Alex and Alexia were explaining how they prepared for the weather.
鈥淲e set it all up last night, with tarps, because we had a strange feeling it鈥檇 be really rainy today,鈥 Alexia said, as the rain splattered behind them.
It was their first time taking part in the 91原创-wide sale organized by the Township, Alex advised, and they had plenty to sell under the tarps.
鈥淟ots of kids items, a bunch of free stuff, hockey equipment, all you can name,鈥 he summarized.
Just down the road, John Gould-Thorpe had an impressive amount of toys and children鈥檚 books for sale in his garage. He explained they used to belong to his son, who is now eight, and has outgrown them.
鈥淜ids are expensive,鈥 Gould-Thorpe laughed.
