Residents between the age of 17 and 35 are being urged to #GETSWABBED for Tania.

On Friday, Sept. 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Marie Grim will host a stem cell drive in honour of her sister-in-law, Tania, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

The drive will take place at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 21713 50 Ave.

Last January, , a mother of four, was diagnosed with cancer. Within a week of her diagnosis, Tania鈥檚 treatment, and the hunt for a stem cell donor began.

After months of waiting, the call came in that a donor had been found.

Friday鈥檚 stem cell drive is intended to serve as a message of hope for the hundreds of other families who are still desperately searching for their match.

In addition to falling within the designated age range, registrants must be in good general health, willing to help all patients and have valid provincial health coverage (BC Care Card).

Registration takes 10 minutes, so Grim urges potential donors to stop by, learn about the One Match program and #GETSWABBED.
