Santa skate hosted Sunday at George Preston in 91Ô­´´

91Ô­´´ Minor Hockey Association members-only event benefits food bank

A well-known jolly old elf will be lacing up his skates on Sunday, Dec. 3 at George Preston arena for the annual Santa Skate organized by 91Ô­´´ Minor Hockey Association.

For LMHA members only, there will be free popcorn and hot chocolate, music, skating with a few surprises and special guests.

Running between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., participants are invited to wear their ugly Christmas sweater for a chance to win a prize.

Admission is by cash or non-perishable food donation to the 91Ô­´´ Food Bank.

LMHA is marking their 50th season of hockey with a celebration at the 91Ô­´´ Events Centre on Saturday, January 27th, at 6 p.m.

It is a free event, open to all LMHA members, alumni, partners and providers, and their families.

Plans include an alumni hockey game, displays, games for the kids, special guests and more.

LMHA is a member of PCAHA, the governing organization for minor hockey in the Lower Mainland District of BC Hockey, which includes the area from Hope to the Sunshine Coast.

PCAHA’s membership includes 42 minor hockey associations and two above-minor leagues, made up of an estimated 19,700 male and female players aged five to 20; 6,000 coaches, managers, and other team officials; as well as 2,100 referees and many other volunteers.
