The rain clouds held off long enough for many people to enjoy the first Boppin’ in the Park of 2017 on Friday evening.
Her Brothers performed at this free summer concert hosted by You’ve Gotta Have Friends and 91Ô´´ City in Douglas Park.
Three concerts in total will be held over the summer, featuring live music, games, prizes, treats and more.
Chance to dance
This coming Friday is the first chance to take in Dance in the Park, a free public event also in Douglas Park for those 19 and older.
People can go out and learn about different dances or they can simply go to enjoy the music.
The City and Dancing for Dessert are the ones behind this summer event that starts at 7 p.m.
The June 23 event features the milonga, or Argentine tango, and dancing takes place under the Spirit Square bandshell on the concrete stage. So the event goes rain or shine.
There are several opportunities to try out dancing during the summer. The themes for June 30 and July 7 are Latin and ballroom dance. The Aug. 25 event features the Argentine tango and other dance styles.
