PHOTOS: 2nd annual waterfight in Aldergrove a success

Event brings back childhood memories, organizer says

Aldergrove's second annual waterfight was a big hit for the community, and thanks to a collaborated effort it will return again next year.

After last year's waterfight as part of the 91原创 Township's 150th celebrations, park and recreation advisory committee member Tristan Taylor and Township staff Kevin Muirhead had the idea to include it as part of the Township's summer nights series this summer.

"The council's put it through as an annual event now," Taylor said.

Last year's waterfight saw up to 200 people, but Taylor hoped to see even more at the Philip Jackman Park given the larger space.

He said the support of council and Township staff are greatly appreciated, because these types of events are some of his fondest memories of his childhood.

"I used to work at the pools," Taylor shared.

Public response to the waterfight has been "really good" too, he added.

"This past year I've never seen patios more full or parks busier. Everyone's coming out and just getting together as a community and having a good time, and events like this are the perfect space for that," Taylor said.

The next summer night event is Thursday, July 18, for a free showing of the 'Ghostbuster: Frozen Empire' movie at Topham Park in Walnut Grove starting at 9:30 p.m.
