The Glen Valley 4-H club held its annual speech competition on Feb. 25. Several members gave speeches, and they can all be proud of their work.
First place in the junior category, which is for ages nine to 12, went to Isabella S., whose speech, What Would You Do?, was on children鈥檚 mental health. It was a highly informative speech and helped us learn more about how to help others who are experiencing mental health concerns.
Second place at the junior level went to Amelie G. with her speech entitled A Tail of Two Doctors. It was a speech on the differences and similarities between vets and human doctors.
At the senior level, first place went to Isha A. with her speech entitled And There Wasn鈥檛 a Worry in My Way. It was an interesting speech about poetry, during which she shared one of her own compositions.
Livia M. was in second place with her speech entitled Mobile Mayhem. She highlighted the problems with mobile devices being used too much, and gave some helpful tips on how to shorten the time one spends on their device.
Our senior speakers were also required to give impromptu speeches with only one minute to prepare. The topic was time, and it was interesting to hear the varied ideas they presented on this theme.
The first and second place winners of Glen Valley Club are looking forward to speaking again at the upcoming 91原创 district speech competitions, which will take place March 9.
