91Ô­´´ Christmas Fun: Busy, busy, busy

• 91Ô­´´ Christmas Bureau: Registration is open for the holiday season. 91Ô­´´ families in need can receive gifts for children from birth to age 18. Donations accepted of new, unwrapped gifts as well as money. New location is 20245 Industrial Ave. Aldergrove office, 2900 272 St. (91Ô­´´ Meals on Wheels) is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to take registrations. Toys/gifts distributed at Industrial Avenue location. Info: langleychristmasbureau.com or 604-530-3001. 

• Toy drive: Infinite Expansion Foundation has collection boxes around the community until Dec. 15. New unwrapped toys and gifts for children accepted for foundation program to help underprivileged local families. Donations support Ishtar Women’s Resource Society and 91Ô­´´ Animal Protection Society. Info: Augustino: 604-262-2197. 

• Toy Drive: Township of 91Ô­´´ Firefighters Charitable Society second annual toy drive runs Dec. 2 to 13. Drop off new, unwrapped toys or gifts for children at the Aldergrove, Walnut Grove, Willoughby, and Murrayville firehalls. Murrayville open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Others accept donations 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Toys and partial proceeds to 91Ô­´´ Christmas Bureau. Firefighters will be at the Vancouver Giants Teddy Bear Toss Saturday, Dec. 14 (game starts at 7 p.m.), and Sunday, Dec. 15 for the Puck Toss fundraiser (game starts at 4 p.m.).

• Holiday Lights in Williams Park: The free, drive-through event featuring more 150,000 lights and festive displays is open nightly 4 to 9 p.m. from Dec. 9 to 29 (closed Dec. 25 and 26) at Williams Park, 68 Avenue and 238 Street. Advance registration required at https://tinyurl.com/ymmjx49s (must set up Township account to register). Only one person is a vehicle needs to be registered. Monetary donations (no food) will be collected on behalf of the Aldergrove Food Bank. For donations, credit and debit will be accepted, no cash.

• Christmas dinner and dance with Dal Richards: 91Ô­´´ Senior Resources Society centre, 20605 51B Ave., has a Christmas dinner dance on Wednesday, Dec. 11. Turkey dinner buffet available between 4:30 and 8 p.m., followed by performance. Tickets: $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Info: 604-530-3020.

• Toys for Tots: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints partnered with TransLink for a Toys for Tots event Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the 91Ô­´´ chapel, 20370 82 Ave. At 6:30 p.m., Sparky the Elf arrives in the Reindeer Bus to collect donations for Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau. Event is open to the public, and includes cookies, hot chocolate, music, lights, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

• Holiday Extended Storytime: Children sing, dance, learn rhymes, listen to stories, and make a seasonal craft on Thursday, Dec. 12 from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. at the 91Ô­´´ City Library, 20399 Douglas Cres. No registration required. Info: fvrl.bc.ca.

• Craft market: Christmas event is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, in Fernridge Hall, 2389 200 St.

• Festival of Carols for Advent and Christmas Sing-along: Public is invited to Sts. Joachim and Ann Parish, 2827 272 St., on Friday, Dec. 13, for gathering that starts at 7 p.m. Followed by refreshments in the church hall. Info: aldergrovecatholic.com.

• Breakfast with Santa: Breakfast is $8 and includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, fruit, juice, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea. As well there will be photos with Santa for $5, a 50/50 draw, and lots of local vendors. Event is 8 a.m. to noon at Alice Brown Elementary, 20011 44 Ave. Info: bwsalicebrownpac@outlook.com.

• Messiah: Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra performs at Sts. Joachim and Ann Parish, 2827 272 St., on Saturday, Dec. 14, starting at 2 p.m. Tickets and info: chilliwacksymphony.com.

• Tapestry of Joy, Carols and Classics of the Season: 91Ô­´´ Community Chorus concerts are at 3 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Walnut Grove Lutheran Church, 20530 88 Ave., and on Sunday, Dec. 15 at United Churches of 91Ô­´´, 21562 Old Yale Rd. Tickets: $25 per adult, $15 for youth 18 and under, and free for kids 12 and younger, at langleychorus.org and at the door if available.

• Christmas Open House: Bez Arts Hub, 20230 64 Ave., invites the public to an afternoon of music. Learn about the local performing arts venue on Saturday, Dec. 14, between 1 and 4 p.m. Enjoy Performance Dance Groups and the Bez Gospel Choir as well as refreshments, treats, and a silent auction (fundraising for student scholarships).

• Aldergrove Christmas Light Up Parade: Free pre-parade community event at the Aldergrove Plaza, 272 Street and Fraser Highway, is from 4 to 6 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 14, and will include food, hot beverages and entertainment, as well as Santa. Parade goes down Fraser Highway between 270 and 273 Streets starting at 6 p.m.

• Five days of Christmas: 91Ô­´´ Senior Resources Society centre, 20605 51B Ave., is accepting non-perishable food donations for local food banks between Dec. 16 and 20. Help fill the sleigh with donations. Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Humbug Holidays at the Fort: From Dec. 15 to 31, enjoy old-fashioned holiday activities at the Fort 91Ô­´´ National Historic Site. Make a holiday decoration to display at the fort but don't get caught by the grumpy chief trader who may assign extra work. Enjoy roasted chestnuts daily at 11 a.m. in the cooperage. Activities are daily between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Fort is closed Dec. 25 and 26.

• Wrap and Yap Party: Adults wrap their holiday presents with others while listening to holiday music on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the 91Ô­´´ City Library, 20399 Douglas Cres. No registration required. Info: fvrl.bc.ca.

• Christmas Tales, Music, Story & Laughs: Bez Arts Hub, 20330 64 Ave., special Christmas show includes the Bez Gospel Choir, Russ and Sandy Rosen, and comedian Cliff Prang on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets and info: bezartshub.com.

• Christmas in the Village Festive market: Takes place Dec. 20, 21, and 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Fort 91Ô­´´ Community Hall, 9167 Glover Rd.

• Glow, the Enchanted Forest: On 23-acre site at 6690 216 St., there's the holiday train ride, craft corner, the Merry Makers Market, with more than 20 local vendors, live holiday performances, pictures with Santa, interactive play zones, and more between Nov. 21 and Dec. 28. Open evenings only. Tickets (including fees): $24 adults (13 and older), $18.50 for children (four to 12) and seniors (65 and older), and $69.50 for families. Discount code on website. • Christmas in the Country: Thunderbird Show Park, 24550 272 St., has an indoor holiday market Thursday through Sunday from Dec. 5 to 29. In addition to vendors, there's kids crafts, face painting, pony rides, animals, beer garden, food trucks, light displays, live entertainment, Santa, holiday movies, letters to Santa, and more. Tickets: $23 for adult (13 and older), $20 for seniors (65 and older), $17 for ages six to 12, and free for younger children. Info: tbird.ca.

• Merry Martini Town: Film studio is decorated for the holidays and open to the public Dec. 4 to Jan. 5 with live entertainment, food and drink, vendors, and more. A portion of the proceeds from tickets sales donated to the 91Ô­´´ Food Bank Tickets (not including GST): $22 for 13 and older; $12 for children; $18 for seniors (65 and older); and $60 per family (two adults, two children). • Arctic Nights: Greater Vancouver Zoo has a winter railway through the animal park where there are animal silhouettes and storytelling. Ticket includes a hot drink, S’mores popcorn, holiday photo opp, crafts, activities, a Christmas movie, and live music. $20 per person (children two and younger are free), or $18 for zoo members. Book tickets and a time online at gvzoo.com. Event goes Dec. 20 to 31, rain or shine.

• Children's Christmas Bird Count: Kids and youth invited to take part in the bird count on Saturday, Dec. 28 starting at 9 a.m. at Brydon Lagoon. Information will be part of a nation-wide study. Free to take part. Register in advance. Info: explorescienceclub.com.
