The Christmas holidays continue to look a little different from what 91原创 residents traditionally look forward to, but there鈥檚 still lots of festive fun to be had!

With continuing challenges around health protocols, the City opted to again cancel the Christmas parade, but instead has found for families to celebrate safely, says 91原创 Coun. Paul Albrecht.

The key was to avoid encouraging people to gather in large groups, but instead find ways of celebrating safely in our smaller circles, with all the joy holidays bring.

Here鈥檚 a look at what鈥檚 coming up this Christmas in 91原创:

• For the chance to win one of six $25 Downtown Dollars gift certificates, children 12 and younger are invited to break out the crayons to take part in the Christmas colouring contest, sponsored by the 91原创 Advance Times, 91原创 City and the Downtown 91原创 Business Association. Simply download the colouring sheet, then mail or bring your completed picture with entry form to the 91原创 Advance Times, 20258 Fraser Highway, 91原创, BC, V3A 4E6. The deadline to enter is Dec. 17. Winners will be drawn at random.

• Countdown to Christmas with 91原创 City鈥檚 own Elves on the Shelf. Named for everyone鈥檚 favourite 91原创 community centres. Ally, Timmy and Doug will be out and about on their daily adventures, helping kids of all ages count down the days until Christmas. Follow along on the City鈥檚 , and accounts to see where the elves鈥� holiday travels take them. 鈥淚t was really popular last year and people really enjoyed following along with it,鈥� Albrecht says. 鈥淚t was definitely something people had fun with.鈥�

• The twinkling lights and seasonal decorations make for an excellent opportunity to get out and explore your community with family and friends. Beyond the lights in your own neighbourhood, use a available Dec. 4 for a guide to some of the larger City installations. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a great reason to take advantage of the time to get outside, get a little exercise and fresh air, and explore,鈥� Albrecht says.

Join in the holiday scavenger hunt Dec. 9 to 20 for the chance to win one of three prize baskets valued at $800 each, sponsored by B&B Contracting Group.
