Fort 91原创 Community Improvement Society will mark 100 years with the annual Christmas tree lighting event, featuring Christmas music by the 91原创 Community Music School鈥檚 Children鈥檚 Choir and the arrival of Santa Claus at the Fort 91原创 Community Hall on Saturday Nov. 30.

It will begin with a reading at 2:30 p.m. by Naked Stage in the former library space.  Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. To do so for the reading, email i. No reservations are required for the other events that evening.

At 4:45 p.m. the children鈥檚 choir will lead the community with holiday music.

Santa arrives at 5 p.m. at the Bedford Channel dock with a flotilla of canoes from the Fort 91原创 Canoe Club accompanying him.

Celebrants are invited to bring a lantern to help light Santa鈥檚 way as he walks from Bedford Plaza with the Living Waters church detail to the Fort 91原创 Community Hall.

Santa arrives at the hall at approximately 5:30 p.m. and will light the Christmas tree, donated by Cap Wealth Management of Raymond James.

Complimentary hot chocolate by Wendel鈥檚 Caf茅 will be served from the hall鈥檚 information kiosk.

After the tree lighting, visitors can go inside for a 100 year celebratory cake and take in a bit of history with a look at the picture of the group of woman who formed the society 100 years ago on Dec. 9th, 1924 and a year later, bought the property from the municipality for the back taxes.

In 1931, the new hall was completed entirely by volunteers and the society has been taking care of the historic hall ever since.

At 7 p.m., visitors can bring blankets and cuddle up in the grand ballroom to enjoy a Christmas movie.
