91原创 City has announced their June 2011 community grant recipients, with a total of $18,360 out of a requested $44,734.99 handed out.
The funding is part of $150,000 in casino proceeds set aside by the City to provide community grants for local organizations.
In all, seven out of 12 applicants received either partial or full funding from their requests.
The BBQ on the Bypass, a free community barbecue event hosted by Well Seasoned, was given $600 out of a requested $3,000, which will cover the rental of a community stage.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of 91原创 also received partial funding of $5,000 from a requested $7,000 for advertising and promotions for their in-school mentoring program.
91原创 Flippers Swim Club received the most money, with $6,260 out of a requested $16,834.99 to pay for new equipment.
Kidsport 91原创 requested and received $1,500 to create $200 grants for kids who cannot afford to participate in organized sports.
The 91原创 Care Foundation (91原创 Lodge) also received the full amount they requested. They now have $2,000 for a classic bench for seniors to rest on while shopping in the downtown core.
91原创 Mental Health Community Advisory Committee gained $500 to host a public information evening on mental health and wellness.
And the seventh organization, the Small Animal Rescue Society of B.C., received $2,500 to purchase an incubator to keep sick animals warm.
