Wix-Brown Elementary's second annual Winter Market was just one way parents are fundraising to build a replacement playground.
The winter market, held on Nov. 9, raised $2,400 towards the goal, and PAC vice-president Amber Brown is satisfied with that number.
"[The market] was exceptionally well fun by Marlo Jongenburger, and we are thrilled with how it turned out!" she exclaimed.
One grant has been obtained through Habitat Systems Inc., but that also comes with a deadline to use the grant by the end of March next year.
PAC president Mark Braun noted that the existing playground is severely outdated.
"Our playground has existed in this school for about 35 or 40 years. It's not very inclusive, and we have students with special needs in the school or need wheelchair accessibility," he said.
Braun added that the PAC want everyone attending Wix-Brown to feel welcome and included.
For the market, both Brown and Braun said it went very well and were able to include 10 more tables for vendors this year.
People can donate through a fundraiser by the 91原创 School District Foundation at . The goal is to raise $50,000.
