A 91Ô­´´ renovation firm, plus two companies behind a few of 91Ô­´´â€™s bigger current development projects, walked away with excellence awards recently.

Representatives from across the home-building industry gathered last month for the 15th annual Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) awards night, during which Lower Mainland businesses are recognized for excellence in new-home construction, renovation, and design projects.

The HAVAN awards are given for everything from custom-built homes and comprehensive whole-home renovations to luxury condos and family-oriented townhomes. The awards celebrate innovation, craftsmanship, and design excellence across the spectrum.

The highest of Metro Vancouver area awards are called the Grand HAVAN awards, given out in six categories.

One of those went to Surrey’s Zenterra Development Ltd. Specifically, it was crowned multi-family home builder of the year. It earned this title for multi-development projects in Willoughby.

Zenterra also earned best multi-family condo unit award and best multi-family production development (less than seven storeys), for the Camden neighbourhoods in Willoughby, and best townhouse/rowhouse unit (1,500 square feet and more), for the Newbury neighbourhood – also in Willoughby.

Another 91Ô­´´ project, Mirada Estates, earned 14 HAVAN award nominations and won eight of nine award that night for Miracon Development, which went on to also earn a Grand HAVAN award and the distinction of being labelled single-family home builder of the year.

The Mirada Estates earned: best new kitchen – single-family production home; best primary suite – single-family or multi-family production home; best interior design display home – single-family production home; best marketing campaign; Fortis BC award for excellence in energy efficiency in new residential construction; best single-family detached home (production) – less than 2,900 sq. ft.; best single-family detached home (production) – more than 2,900 sq. feet; and best single-family detached home development (production) – five units or more.

It was also lauded for an apartment development in Murrayville.

Aspire is a 148-unit rental complex, built in partnership with the 91Ô­´´ Memorial Hospital Foundation, at 5068 221A St. It provides long-term mar­ket rental housing for people 55 and older, including 42 below-market units, classed as affordable.

This project earned Miracon a BC Housing award for excellence in housing solutions.

Surrey’s Mortise Group of Companies earned the best interior design display suite (multi-family home) award for 91Ô­´´â€™s Unison project.

And 91Ô­´´â€™s Roadhouse Homes Ltd. won the best renovation (valued at less than $400,000) for a project called Cottage in the Bay.
