For a decade now, the team at in Brookswood has been feeding the riders on the annual Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley trip.

But, when Dana Matheson purchased the business a few years ago, he wanted to up the anti. He wanted to do even more to help the cause.

鈥淚 just wanted to do more,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 know many people who have been touched by this disease and I鈥檝e had family touched by it.鈥

With that in mind, the bakery is planning a Cops for Cancer fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The second annual fundraiser runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with Cedarbrook donating 50 per cent of all sales from the day to the cause.

Last year, that translated to a cheque for $3,600. Matheson is hoping to top that this time around.

The event will include facepainting, balloon animals, free cookies for kids, and prizes.

鈥淲e will be pulling names throughout the day of people who have made purchases and they will be rewarded with an array of great prizes, many that have been donated from partners within the community,鈥 he said.

Tapping into all of his many sports connections, Matheson has pulled together a number of prizes, including:

鈥 Vancouver Canucks game tickets (1 pair)

鈥 BC Lions game tickets (1 pair)

鈥 Movie tickets (1 pair)

鈥 Gift certificates to dine at some local restaurants (JRG)

鈥 Vancouver Giants tickets (1 pair)

鈥 One month of unlimited classes at Oxygen Yoga & Fitness (value $152)

鈥 Five pairs of tickets to see the Vancouver Stealth play any game this season in live NLL action at the 91原创 Event Centre

鈥 A game worn 91原创 91原创 hockey jersey and 4 single-game tickets

鈥 A 10-pack of tickets to the Gone Country cancer fundraising conert at the Cloverdale amphitheatre

鈥淎t the end of the day, everybody has been or will be affected by cancer at some point, and we want to do our small part in helping fight this horrible disease,鈥 Matheson said. 鈥淲e have an amazing community and a loyal customer base and this also gives us the opportunity to celebrate them and give back, as well.鈥

The bakery is located at 41st Avenue and 200th Street.
