VIDEO: Chilliwack farm hosts 103rd annual plowing match

Chilliwack Plowing Society takes over Greendale Acres fields for traditional farming event

The 103rd Annual Chilliwack Plowing Match was held at Greendale Acres Saturday (April 5), bringing out competitors from across B.C. 

The event took over the property, with competition classes for antique and modern tractors, and horse teams of every ability, as well as a full schedule of fun activities throughout the day. 

Scores are based on factors like crown, straightness and firmness, with a perfect score being 100 points.

Here are this year's results: 

Horse walking plow
First: Dennis Ryan, Westwold
Second: Phil Rogers, Goldbridge
Third: Dugan Montjoy, Lillooet 

Politicians' class 
First: Ken Popove, Chilliwack mayor
Second: Sylvia Pranger, District of Kent mayor
Third (three-way tie): Fred Talen, Harrison mayor, Victor Smith, Hope mayor and Mark Strahl, MP for Chilliwack Hope

Junior Tractor
First: Oscar Beukens, Agassiz 

Antique Tractor
First: Henry Slootweg, Rosedale 
Second: Ian Peck, Chilliwack

Tractor
First: Brent Holcik, Chilliwack 
Second: Tyler Evans, Chilliwack 
Third: Gerry Norrish, Chilliwack

BC Championship Conventional 
First: Mike Strotmann, Salmon Arm
Second: Pierre Sache, Rosedale 
Third: Ray Ramey, Agassiz

BC Championship Reversible 
First: Francis Sache, Rosedale
