Double-decker buses are coming to Metro Vancouver as part of a pilot project to replace highway buses.

Two Enviro 500 buses, which each seat about 80 riders, will be added to TransLink鈥檚 fleet in October.

鈥淚t鈥檚 like riding in an aircraft,鈥 Coast Mountain Bus Company president Haydn Acheson said in a report to the TransLink board Friday.

Seat sections include reading lights and electrical outlets for plugging in phones or laptops.

The vehicles are already being used on some BC Transit routes around Victoria.

If the three-month pilot goes well, TransLink intends to add five more buses in 2018.
