91原创 Fastball Association (LFA) and North 91原创 (NL) softball wrapped up their recreational seasons by hosting the 91原创 Fastpitch Championships during the last weekend in June, the annual event where the LFA and NLS join up to crown a 91原创 champion in each age classification.

Even with U13C teams away in Abbotsford for their regional championships, they still had 17 teams playing 34 games June 23 to 25 in both North 91原创 and south 91原创 parks.

In the older age groups, U17 and U20 were combined into one pool, with the NL Red Sox winning gold.

In the U15 bracket the LFA Bulldogs took gold, beating the NL Fireballs (silver) in the final. In the bronze medal game the LFA Bomb Squad beat the LFA Bandits.

In the U11 classification the 10 participating teams were split into two pools after Saturday鈥檚 round robin play. On Sunday, in the top pool, the LFA Lightning beat the LFA Hurricanes to take top spot. In the bronze medal game the LFA Bougie-In-Blue team beat the LFA Mavericks.

Over in the secondary pool, playing on the Noel Booth East Fields, the NL Red Tigers beat the LFA Violet Vipers to win gold. The NL Red Pandas took home the bronze medal. Included in the U11 celebrations is the ever popular Dragon Race Championship (base-race) with all 10 teams competing to determine who is fastest. The LFA Lightning took the gold medal in the Dragon Race bracket.

LFA and NLS also celebrated their U7 and U9 players. LFA did medal and certificate presentations during the week with their LTP leaders and NLS hosted a fun-filled Saturday at Alex Hope including skills competition stations and a 12-team double-knockout Dragon Race.

LFA鈥檚 U9s participated in a Friday night fun night at Noel Booth, followed by dinner and medal presentations. The activities frequently devolved into water fights amongst players and coaches with Sponge Bombs, Bunch-O-Balloons, and dousing coaches with large tubs of water.

NLS hosted their U9 wrapup on Sunday, filled with skills competition stations and a double knockout Dragon Race championship.

鈥淎ll kids left the parks tired, but with large smiles on their faces,鈥 reported Jeff Clegg, LFA president.

The LFA and NL U13 teams, who did not participate in LFC, instead played in the SoftballBC U13C Regional Championships in Abbotsford. Twenty teams were broken out into three championship pools after round robin play.

In the top pool (Blue), the LFA Tigers took gold, beating the Chilliwack Chaos in the final. The LFA Stellar Jays took Bronze in the blue pool. In the white pool (third tier), the LFA Red Sox took the gold medal.

LFA also hosted the District 8 playdowns June 16, 17and 18 to determine which teams from 91原创, North 91原创, Abbotsford & Chilliwack would advance to Provincials. Those teams participating in their respective provincials include :

U19B - Abbotsford Outlaws (host), 91原创 Xtreme 05 (by acclamation)

U20C - Chilliwack Force (host), Abbotsford Rockies (1), LFA Thunder (2)

U17B - Abbotsford Outlaws 07 (1), 91原创 Xtreme 06 (2)

鈥91原创 Fastball and North 91原创 Softball would like to thank all the volunteers who made these events and the entire season a success, including our volunteer coaches, and also a big shoutout to both LFA and NLS Executive committees,鈥 said Clegg.
