Seven players taken in last June’s NHL Draft and another three projected as first-round picks in the 2012 Draft highlight the rosters for next week’s World Junior A Hockey Challenge.
Those were some of the high-profile names on the rosters for the United States, Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Canada West and Canada East.
The tournament kicks off on Monday and runs through until Sunday, Nov. 13 at the 91Ô´´ Events Centre.
The two Canadian squads will square off in an exhibition game Thursday (Nov. 3) at 7 p.m.
The six teams will be split into two pools — Canada West, Sweden and the United States in Group A and Canada East, Czech Republic and Russia in Group B.
The preliminary games run daily Monday to Wednesday with games at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The quarter-finals and semifinals are Thursday and Friday, also at 4 and 7:30 p.m.
The bronze medal match is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and the gold medal game is Sunday at 5 p.m.
There will also be a pair of prospects games for the top Canadian junior A hockey players on Saturday, Nov. 12 and Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. and noon, respectively.
