With goaltender Aric Wolstenholme in net, one goal is usually enough.

And sure enough, that was the case on Sunday morning at the George Preston Recreation Centre.

Wolstenholme stopped every shot he faced and Trevor Alcos鈥� first period goal stood up as the winner as the 91原创 (LY2) Winterhawks defeated the 91原创 (LY8) Jets 1-0 in the 91原创 Peewee Cup final.

It was the second straight goose egg for Wolstenholme 鈥� the Winterhawks only goalie 鈥� over the Jets and he allowed just three goals over the four games.

鈥淗e is a clutch kid,鈥� said coach Larry Spady.

鈥淗e is technically sound and they never got anything cheap on him.鈥�

91原创 Winterhawks goaltender Aric Wolstenholme came up with a huge save in the final minute against 91原创 Jets鈥� Yunjae Boo to preserve a 1-0 victory in the finals of the 91原创 peewee Cup at the George Preston Recreation Centre.

The Winterhawks were the second seed heading into the nine-team tournament, which began the previous Sunday.

They beat LY7 7-2 in the opening round and LY6 5-1.

With the winner getting a spot straight into the finals 鈥� and the loser getting one more crack to advance to the final in the double knockout format 鈥� the Winterhawks beat the Jets 3-0.

The Jets beat LY9 to earn another shot at the Cup.

鈥淲e really wanted this a lot,鈥� said Winterhawks captain Dominic Forman.

鈥淐oming into this tournament, we were probably the team to beat, so the pressure was on us.鈥�

The captain did admit to some nervous time with his team nursing that one goal lead in the late stages.

The Winterhawks finished the season with an overall record of 28-7-1. Included in that was a victory at a North Shore Winter Club tournament 91原创 defeated a previously unbeaten Juan de Fuca team.

鈥淣o highs, no lows, we were pretty even all season long,鈥� Spady said.

鈥淎t times, we got away from what we wanted to do (but) we had a very successful season.鈥�

The peewee Winterhawks consist of: Aric Wolstenholme, Trevor Alcos, Simon Craske, Thomas Doro, Robert Dutkiewicz, Dominic Forman, Jaden Kover, Colton McDonald, Michael Meade, Drew Morrison, Grant Phillips-Hing, Colby Ring, Joey Spady, Eric Walker and Ryan Williams.

Coaches are Larry Spady, John Forman and Mike Alcos, team manager is Shanon Wolstenholme and Tom Doro is the safety manager.
