Fans of international rugby cheered on England at Willoughby stadium in 91原创 on Sunday Oct 6. Final score was England 49 New Zealand 3. England went on to down Canada and take the second WXV women's championship.

After wins in 91原创, the two best women鈥檚 rugby teams in the world went head-to-head Saturday night, Oct.12, in Vancouver with Canada, ranked second in the world, taking on reigning WXV 1 champions England for the 2024 title.

After Canada鈥檚 Alex Tessier put Canada up 12-7 early in the second half at BC Place, England scored two tries in the final 22 minutes to seal the victory and win the second edition of WXV 1 by a 21-12 score.

鈥淭he biggest take away from this game is that we can compete with the top team in the world,鈥 said Canada鈥檚 captain Tyson Beukeboom. 鈥淚 think we really challenged them. I think there were moments where they were very worried."

鈥淭he team chatted about it at the end that we don鈥檛 think it was our best game but the beauty of that is that even though we weren鈥檛 playing our best we were still so close,鈥 said Canada鈥檚 Head Coach Kevin Rouet. 鈥淲e have a lot to work on and we know with more time together it can be easily fixed.鈥

Both teams clinched spots in the final with wins at 91原创's WIlloughby stadium the week before.

Canada downed Ireland 21-8 in their second match of the tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5, while England downed New Zealand 49 -31 on Sunday.
