VIDEO: 91Ô­´´ split series with Spruce Kings

Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14, the 91Ô­´´ split a two-game stand with the Prince George Spruce Kings, first winning 5-4, then losing 6-3.

The 91Ô­´´ 91Ô­´´ took to the road to take on the Prince George Spruce Kings in back to back games this past Friday, Dec 13,  and Saturday, Dc. 14, at the Kopar Memorial Arena.

The first game started out well in 91Ô­´´â€™s favour in Fridays’ affair, with the 91Ô­´´ outshooting the hosts 12-6 and generating a couple opportunities but Ryder Green in the Spruce Kings net kept the visitors off the board in the opening frame.

Just 28 seconds into the second period, Prince George grabbed a 1-0 on a shot from the right wing side

Seven minutes later, Ethan Merner let a shot go from inside the Spruce Kings zone that took a heavy deflection and beat Green to tie the game.

Will Moore gave the hosts a lead with 1:36 remaining in the second period on a loose puck in front, but 31 seconds later Ryan Schelling would score his team leading 19th of the year to make it 2-2 heading into the third period.

1:51 into the third period, Liam Doyle who was playing in his third game in a 91Ô­´´ jersey, let a shot go from the slot for his first BCHL goal, handing 91Ô­´´ a 3-2 lead.

The Spruce Kings would grab themselves a lead with a pair of goals 1:42 apart, leading 4-3 with 11 minutes to go in the third period.

Ilya Rogovsky would tie it for 91Ô­´´ on a shot from the right side, and Ty Creech would score his first goal in the BCHL with 2:40 to go, and the 91Ô­´´ would walk away with a 5-4 win in the first matchup of the double header.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Saturday, it was 91Ô­´´â€™s turn to grab the first goal, as Luke Pfoh scored twice 9 minutes apart to make it 2-0 91Ô­´´ after 10:16 of play. With his pair of early goals, Pfoh collected his second multi goal game of the season on Saturday, the first goal was a beautiful one timer from the slot, and the second a breakaway snipe from the left wing.

Prince George rsponded with three goals in the final 8 minutes and 22 seconds of the first period to lead 3-2 going into the first intermission.

Spruce Kings would give themselves a 4-1 lead midway through the second period, but Ethan Merner would cut the home sides lead to 4-3 with 5 minutes remaining in the middle frame on his 11th goal of the year, and fourth in the last five games.

Cooper Williams made it 5-3 Prince George precisely two minutes into the third period, and Brock Cummings would score his second of the weekend into the empty net to seal the 6-3 for the Spruce Kings, splitting the weekend set with 91Ô­´´.

The 91Ô­´´ are back in action Saturday, Dec. 28 versus the Victoria Grizzlies at the George Preston Arena for a 4:30 puck drop, with a special skate with the team post game.
