A goal in the first four minutes was more than Vancouver FC could overcome Friday, Sept. 6 as they fell 1-0 to York United at Willoughby Community Park.

Nyal Higgins scored for York as he rose highest to meet a corner delivery from Jorge Guzm谩n.

From there, he and his teammates did what they needed to in order to grind out a victory, snapping a three-game winless run in the process.

With that, York have provisionally climbed to third place in the table, sitting three points behind first-place Forge, who will be in action on Saturday.

As for Vancouver, they remained in fifth place in the table, missing an opportunity to climb within three points of fourth place with a win, a gap that has now extended to eight points after this defeat.

It鈥檚 now the third time in the past four games in which the Eagles have conceded a goal inside the first six minutes of a match.

Vancouver will head out on the road for their next match, but won鈥檛 have far to travel, as they get set for a Salish Sea Derby clash against Pacific FC at Starlight Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.
