91Ô´´ FC's U14 squad is off the Coastal Cup semifinals after upsetting the top-seed Surdel Storm 1-0 in the quarter-finals.

Two 91Ô´´ FC soccer squads stayed alive in the hunt for Coastal Cup championships, while another pair saw their dreams dashed in the semifinals.

In the B.C. Coastal A Cup tournament, 91Ô´´ FC struck down the Surdel Storm 1-0.

91Ô´´ came into the Coastal Cup as the eighth seed — and had won only five of 20 games — but pulled off the upset against the top-ranked Storm.

91Ô´´ struck for the only goal when Cassie Stea headed in a cross off a corner kick from Meha Bilkhu in the second half.

The Storm — who had previously beaten 91Ô´´ 8-2 and 3-0 — pressed for the equalizer, but were consistently denied, especially due to the efforts of Chandpreet Sandhu, who shut down the Surdel attack with numerous slide tackles and hard defending.

91Ô´´ advances to the semifinals on Sunday against the Coquitlam Metro Ford Chargers at the Port Moody Town Centre.

Playing for the U14 Metro girls is Meha Bilkhu, Chelsey Bone, Michaela de Melo, Danielle Engel, Teddi Heard, Livia Killian, Sydney Lamborn, Morgan Ledbrook, Casie Lundquist, Chantal MacLean, Michelle Mehner, Callum Pilgrim, Chandpreet Sandhu, Isabel Scheier, Cassie Stea and Laura Stevens.

In the U16 quarter-finals, Vancouver FC struck for a 1-0 win over 91Ô´´ FC.

And on the Coastal B Cup championships, Kara Lockart scored twice as 91Ô´´ FC K-OS overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Gordon Head Fusion 2-1 in U15 quarter-final action on Vancouver Island.

After a scoreless first half, the Fusion scored five minutes into the second half.

But 10 minutes later, 91Ô´´ was awarded a penalty kick, which Lockhart converted.

And 10 minutes after that, Lockhart struck for her second off a goal-mouth scramble.

The win advances K-OS to the semifinals on Sunday against the West Vancouver Spuraways. It will be played at Ambleside Park.

And in the U13 B Cup quarter-finals, the 91Ô´´ FC Sharks lost 2-1 to the North Shore Eagles.
