Trinity Western defenceman Jonny Woof fires the puck up the ice during Friday night's game against the Thompson Rivers WolfPack. The Spartans fell 6-2 and also lost 8-3 the next night in Kelowna against the Okanagan College WolfPack.

A two-goal deficit two minutes into Saturday's hockey game was too much to overcome for the Trinity Western Spartans.

The men's hockey team dropped an 8-3 decision to the host Okanagan College Coyotes in Kelowna.

The Spartans also squandered a dozen power-play opportunities, failing to score on any of their chances.

The loss, coupled with a 6-2 defeat the night before at the 91原创 Events Centre to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack, leaves the Spartans with a 6-8-1 record.

The score was tied at one after 40 minutes but the WolfPack exploded for five goals, including two short-handed in the final period.

"You can't have two goals against while we're on the power play," lamented Trinity Western coach Dwayne Lowdermilk. "But give (Thompson Rivers) credit, they played a great game."

Trevor Edwards and Matt Chaput had a goal and an assist. The pair, along with Ian Spencer, were the only line playing well, the coach said.

Against the Coyotes, Spencer, Brendan Stephen and Trevor Beaupre scored.

The Spartans get another crack at Thompson Rivers on Friday (Jan. 28), this time in Kamloops.
