Trio being inducted into Greater Vancouver Motorsports Pioneer Society

91原创's Larry Olson, Aldergrove's Leslie and Kevin Skinner being honoured Oct. 9

The Greater Vancouver Motorsports Pioneer Society is inducting three local residents for their contribution to oval track and sports car racing over the past four decades.

91原创鈥檚 Larry Olson started racing stock cars nearly 50 years ago, first on Vancouver Island, and then at the 91原创 Speedway.

He was the Speedway鈥檚 rookie of the year in 1968.

He is still involved as a member of the 91原创 Speedway Historical Society.

Aldergrove鈥檚 Leslie and Kevin Skinner are being honoured for more than 40 years of participation in sports car racing with the Sports Car Club of B.C.

Kevin Skinner begin racing in 1969, moving from MB Midget to Brabham Formual Racing cars.

As president of the SCCBC in the 1980s, he was instrumental in developing the current road race course at Mission Raceway Park, and he also worked to bring the Players Pacific and Honda Michelin Racing Series to the Westwood track.

Leslie Skinner continues her 40-year dedication to sports car racing support as a volunteer.

The trio will be among the 15 honoured at the 11th annual induction ceremony. It will be held at Vancouver鈥檚 Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Dr. on Oct. 9.
