Three local players have made the final B.C. roster for next month鈥檚 2011 Baseball Canada Cup championships.
91原创 Blaze infielder Bill Germaine, and Jr. Blaze pitchers Jon Bauer and Justin Geerts were on the final 20-man roster announced last week (July 20).
The trio were among the 49 invited to tryout for the team.
Blaze general manager Doug Mathieson will serve as the team鈥檚 pitching coach.
And infielder Greg Rogers was named an alternate to the team.
Rogers is batting .339 with 10 RBIs in 30 games.
Germaine is batting .321 with seven doubles, one triple and 27 RBIs in 44 games B.C. Premier Baseball League games.
Bauer (3-0, 1.05 earned run average with 30 strikeouts in 20 innings) and Geerts (1-0, 2.00 ERA and five strikeouts in seven innings) are a pair of right-handed pitchers for the Jr. Blaze.
The B.C. squad leaves for Moncton, N.B. on Aug. 8 and the tournament runs Aug. 10-15.
