With training camp in the books, the Vancouver Giants have made their first round of cuts, reducing the roster from 58 to 36 players.
The major junior hockey club is down to five goaltenders, 10 defencemen and 21 forwards heading into the pre-season.
The Giants will head to Everett this weekend (Sept. 1 to 3) for a four-team tournament.

Tyler Ho — who was picked up at last season’s Western Hockey League trade deadline — and this year’s top pick, Justin Sourdif, each had two goals for Team Quinn while Alec Saretzky (two goals) and Milos Roman (one goal, one assist) led the way for Team Howe.
The Giants will wrap up their exhibition season by hosting a four-team tournament at the 91Ô´´ Events Centre Sept. 8-10.
The team begins the Western Hockey League season on Sept. 22 with the team’s home opener the following night at the LEC. Both of those games will be against the Victoria Royals.
