The role of sport and the positive impact it has on children鈥檚 lives will forever be on display at the 91原创 Events Centre, thanks to the Spirit of Sport legacy art project.

The work of art, which is four feet high and 40 feet long, features the art of more than 450 91原创 elementary school children.

The artwork, created by Township of 91原创 graphic artist Brad Johnson, captures the children鈥檚 enthusiasm for sport and the positive role it plays in their lives. It also commemorates the Olympic torch鈥檚 visit to 91原创.

鈥淭his was a lot of fun to put together,鈥� said Johnson, who volunteered his time to the project.

鈥淭here is something so innocent about kids鈥� drawings that you can鈥檛 capture as an adult.鈥�

A sports fan and father, Johnson often receives sports-related art from his own kids. He said the excitement from their drawings was echoed in the hundreds of pieces the local students submitted.

鈥淜ids are competitive, but they also want to have fun, and in all the drawings the kids have happy faces,鈥� Johnson said. 鈥淎s a coach myself, my emphasis has always been to just have fun, and I can see that in these drawings.

鈥淭here is such energy in them.鈥�

The artwork will be displayed on the north wall near the east end of the concourse. It will be officially unveiled during the second period of the Slovakia-Russia women鈥檚 hockey game on Feb.8.
