The Fraser Valley Volleyball Club’s U14 boys’ team is showing they will be a force to be reckoned with come provincial tournament time next month.
The group of 13-year-olds was competing at Volleyball VC’s U15 Supervolley tournament in Burnaby.
And the team overcame a slow start — they dropped their first two matches — before reeling off three straight wins to make the championship final.
Unfortunately, they came up short, losing to Coquitlam’s Focus Boom 2-1 (25-22,22-25,15-8).
Jordan Loewen (MEI, Abbotsford) led the way for Fraser Valley with 43 kills and 4 aces on the weekend. Steven Hsu of 91Ô´´ Fundamental had 27 kills and was a force on defense with 58 digs. Setter Jordy Koslowsky of MEI had 9 aces and 107 assists. Josiah Mooy (Surrey Christian) had 22 kills and 8 stuff blocks, Reese Frey (Clayton Heights, Surrey) had 20 kills and 35 digs while Jonah Swanson (MEI, Abbotsford) and Levi Block (MEI, Chilliwack) were huge on defense with 32 and 19 digs respectively.
