Looking over their roster at the start of the season, coaches Ian Smith and Terry McHale were unsure of what they had talent-wise.

鈥淲e thought we had a mediocre team,鈥� admitted McHale, the assistant coach. 鈥淏ut about a third of the way or half way through the regular season, we realized these boys have a lot of potential.

鈥淭hey worked hard and were very committed and now are reaping the benefits of their work.鈥�

The pair coach the 91原创 United Youth Soccer Association U12 Bronze 99 Rage.

And after the team of 11-year-olds finished runners-up in the league play to another local squad, the 91原创 United Rangers, the Rage caught fire.

The team went 4-0 in Cup play to win that title, and then wrapped up their season with another title, this time at the South Burnaby Metro Soccer tournament over the weekend.

The Rage were 2-0-1 and despite having a tie, they won their age group thanks to a greater goal differential. In fact, the team did not allow a single goal against in their three games.

McHale said the team鈥檚 skill level has doubled or tripled since the start of the year.
