Quiring helps T-Birds capture fourth straight championship

Rayel Quiring, a Walnut Grove graduate, helped the UBC Thunderbirds win their fourth consecutive CIS women's volleyball championship over the weekend in Quebec City.

Another season and another national championship for Rayel Quiring and the UBC Thunderbirds.

The Walnut Grove graduate and fourth-year outside hitter for the Thunderbirds helped her team win its fourth straight Canadian Interuniversity Sport women鈥檚 volleyball championship on Sunday in Quebec City.

The Thunderbirds swept the host Lavel Rouge et Or 3-0, wrapping up a dominant weekend which saw them win all three matches while losing just one set.

Quiring finished with 15 kills and 8 aces, including 10 kills and five aces on the first day of the tournament.

UBC beat Sherbrooke 3-1 in the quarter-finals and Alberta 3-0 in the semifinals.
