As has been the case all season long, the North Shore Winter Club Winterhawks were too much for the 91原创 Eagles.

The Winterhawks won the battle of the birds on Thursday night at the 91原创 Events Centre, downing the Eagles 7-0 in the gold medal game at the peewee tier 1 AAA provincial hockey championships.

It didn鈥檛 help matters that 91原创 was missing a couple of players to injury and suspension.

鈥淭he bottom line is it is a good hockey team we lost to,鈥� said 91原创 manager Mike Laurin.

鈥淲e knew North Shore was the team to beat.鈥�

The victory capped off a dominant season for the Winterhawks who lost just once the entire season, and that game was against an international opponent.

91原创 also had a good season, compiling an overall record of 49-10-3. And of the 10 losses, seven were at the hands of the Winterhawks.

鈥淭hey were our nemesis,鈥� Laurin said.

鈥淭hey were an incredibly  good team.鈥�

In the final, North Shore led 2-0 after 20 minutes and broke the game open with four goals in the middle period.

鈥淚t was an uphill battle to begin with and for us to have a hope, we were going to need the stars to line up,鈥� Laurin said.

In the Eagles round robin games, they opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over Kelowna and then hammered Cowichan Valley 9-2 on the first day.

Day two saw them fall 5-1 to the North Shore Winter Club but 91原创 bounced back to win 7-2 over Coquitlam the next day, guaranteeing the team a spot in the championship final.

In their final round robin game 鈥� with the outcome irrelevant to the standings 鈥� the Eagles edged Prince George 4-3.

Despite the loss in the championship, it was an outstanding season for the Eagles, who in January, became .

鈥淚t was a hugely successful season,鈥� Laurin said.

鈥淪hort of winning that final game, the season was everything we had hoped for.鈥�

David Laurin led 91原创 in scoring with six goals and six assists while Jonathan Sein, James Malm and Connor Bruggen-Cate each scored four goals.
