Each year, Thunderbird Show Park (tbird) brings something new when it hosts popular equestrian competitions throughout the spring and summer 鈥 including this weekend鈥檚 Major League Jumping Show.
While part of the improvements that constantly go on at tbird are aesthetic necessities 鈥 like repainting poles, replacing gravel roadways, and refilling riding ring base materials 鈥 additional improvements implemented are essential when inviting people from around the world to the facility for the equestrian community鈥檚 international competitions.
Keeping guests鈥 experiences at the forefront of his mind, Chris Pack, tbird鈥檚 president and CEO, said the park has a two-year agreement with Vancouver-based AI and data intelligence company Fobi to offer a new, smoother way to check-in at the park.
It will also provide digital credentials for show attendees, exhibitors, VIPs, and sponsors, along with a newly enhanced digital ticketing platform to support the sale of online event tickets.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e enhancing the digital path for everybody. If you鈥檙e an exhibitor or you鈥檙e coming to here for a horse show, everyone has to have a pass to get in, and [now] it鈥檚 all wallet based through Android or Apple iOS,鈥 he said.
Fobi鈥檚 program allows guests to purchase and download a bundle through tbird鈥檚 website, which will save to the phone鈥檚 Google or Apple wallet. These can also be added to, and updated live, as guests enjoy activities in the park.
Pack compares it similar to bundles downloadable off Ticketmaster.
鈥淭here are scanners at the gate for the QR code,鈥 Pack said, which allow live check-in if a VIP guest is meeting with someone at tbird.
鈥淲e can send out deals live, like a free latte at the hut for some people or $500 off a saddle for the first couple people who go over there.鈥
鈥淚t鈥檚 a huge communication piece鈥 It鈥檚 such an interactive way to talk to your clients.鈥

Aldergrove鈥檚 Kassidy Keith had also signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Fobi AI that will see Keith wear and showcase Fobi鈥檚 logo at competitions and industry events.
Additionally, Fobi and Keith will launch a fan pass that offers exclusive content such as tutorial training videos, sponsor promotions, special offers, industry news, and more.
鈥淔ans can look forward to upcoming shows, Keith鈥檚 placings, and behind-the-scenes footage, including mic鈥檇-up rounds,鈥 the announcement said.
The technology will be demonstrated during tbird鈥檚 first big show of the season coming up this weekend. It鈥檚 the Major League Jumping Show, which runs May 22 through 26.
From May 22 to 26, for a third year, tbird hosts MLSJ Canadian Premier, the first leg of the Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) circuit, a five-star event with $1 million in prizes up for grabs, with both individual grand prix and team events. Saturday May 25, the $200,000 CSI5* MLSJ Team Competition runs 5 to 7 p.m. and the $340,000 CSI5* Grand Prix 1.60m runs on Sunday May 26, 2 to 4 p.m.
