Multiple medals for 91原创 Mustangs at national youth competition

Eight-person team goes to Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships

Four members of the have returned with medals from the in Brandon, Manitoba.

Nolan McEachern took gold in the U16 men鈥檚 high jump at the August event (1.87m), Holly Harrison won a silver medal in the U18 women鈥檚 heptathlon (4284 pts), Aiden Grout took silver in the U18 men鈥檚 high jump (1.95m) while Nicolas Monro won the bronze medal in the U16 men鈥檚 long jump (6.67m)and shared gold in the U18 men鈥檚 4x400m relay.

They were part of an eight-person team that also included: Samantha Matthewman (400m hurdles), Dominique Ronse (long jump, 100m), Ian Vandergugten (110m hurdles) and Sheleena Wiley (long jump, 100m).

The conditions in Brandon were said to be extremely tough, with temperatures in the high 30s and humid, and smoke from forest fires affecting air quality.

The annual track and field competition organized by the Royal Canadian Legion serves as the Canadian youth national championships for the sport.

The first Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships were held at Oromocto, New Brunswick in 1977.

They were designated as the national youth championships by Athletics Canada in 2010.
