The years of sacrifice and hard work have resulted in a life-long dream for a local athlete.
91原创鈥檚 Dorothy Ludwig shot her way to the gold medal in women鈥檚 10-metre air pistol shooting at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
And in addition to the first-place finish, the 32-year-old Ludwig qualified to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
鈥淚鈥檝e been shooting for over 18 years and you commit a lot of time and make a lot of sacrifices in order to maintain the training and the discipline that you need in order to compete at an international level,鈥� she said.
鈥淚t鈥檚 hard work, but it鈥檚 worth it in the end.

Ludwig鈥檚 score of 476.8 was only 0.1 ahead of the silver medalist, Maribel Pineda from Venezuela.
