Ryan Sclater鈥檚 trophy case keeps on expanding.

Already having won the Canada West and U Sports men鈥檚 volleyball player of the years awards last month, the Trinity Western Spartans fifth-year men鈥檚 volleyball player has been named the 2016/17 Canada West male athlete of the year.

The award also advances him as the conference鈥檚 nominee for the annual BLG Awards.

Sclater helped the Spartans win a second consecutive U Sports national title in March and he leaves the TWU program with both the single-season and career school record in both kills and points per set.

鈥淩yan鈥檚 amazing year continues to amaze me,鈥 says Trinity Western head coach Ben Josephson.

鈥淩yan truly is one of those special athletes and men that you rarely get to coach and play with. He is a champion on the court, in the classroom, in the locker room and every other room he happens to be in.鈥

Earlier this month, Sclater also took home three major awards at the TWU year-end athletic banquet, winning the Spartans male athlete of the year, the male scholar athlete of the year and a Complete Champion Award.

The BLG Award winners 鈥 one male and one female 鈥 receives a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship. Each of the eight finalists also gets a commemorative gold ring and a watch.

The winners 鈥 who will be announced May 1 鈥 will be determined by the Canadian Athletic Foundation, a not-for-profit board, but the general public is also invited to vote. To vote, visit .
