Canada’s senior men’s volleyball program has a distinctive 91Ô´´ flavour.
Seven former members of the Trinity Western Spartans men’s volleyball program — including a pair of 91Ô´´ residents — will play for either Canada’s senior A or senior B teams.
³¢²¹²Ô²µ±ô±ð²â’s — a graduate of 91Ô´´ Christian before he played for the Spartans — and , who now calls 91Ô´´ his off-season home, Steve Marshall and Lucas Van Berkel are on the Canada’s senior A squad.
Jansen Van Doorn, Verhoeff and Marshall represented Canada at last summer’s Olympic Games in Rio, helping the .
The 18-player team will be compete in the FIVB World League.
The championships begin June 2 and run until July 8.
The first round of the competition will see Canada head off to Serbia for competition.
Blake Scheerhoorn, and Tyler Koslowsky will wear the Maple Leaf for the senior B team.
And four former Spartans women’s players are also spending time this summer with the Canadian national team.
Alicia Perron, Kristen Moncks, Elly Wendel and Nikki Cornwall have all been selected.
Perron, Moncks and Wendel are on the 24-player roster while Cornwall is one of three reserves.
The team is set for a busy summer which includes the Pan Am Cup in Peru in June and the FIVB World Grand Prix in July in Richmond. They are also off to California June 12 to 14 to train and play against their U.S. counterparts.
