The 91原创 United U14 Silver team came up one goal short in their quest for a Coastal Cup championship.

The boys soccer squad was on the short end of a 3-2 score against Surrey FC Barca on Saturday in Richmond in the Coastal B Cup championship game.

91原创 opened the scoring when Riley Peters headed home a cross from Zach Pilch 10 minutes into the game, but Barca responded with a pair of breakaway goals to take a 2-1 lead at the half. After the lead was extended to 3-1, Pilch converted a Trevor Miller cross to pull 91原创 within a goal, but they could not notch the equalizer.

鈥淲e had the goalie scrambling, but we just couldn鈥檛 get the tying goal,鈥� lamented coach Rich Smallwood.

In the game鈥檚 final 15 minutes, he said his team hit a crossbar, a post and several defenders with their scoring attempts.

91原创 has still qualified for the provincial soccer championships this July in Aldergrove.
