The 91原创 Thunder continue shaping their roster for the 2024 season, adding versatile forward Nathan Leroux.

Leroux played for the Coquitlam Adanacs and his acquisition completes a trade between the two teams from this past summer鈥檚 BC Junior A Lacrosse League season. The Thunder sent the Adanacs Cody Malawsky鈥檚 playing rights for the remainder of the 2023 season in exchange for a package of draft picks and future considerations, which turned out to be Leroux.

Leroux is a right-handed forward who was taken in the third round (24th overall) by Coquitlam in the 2021 BCJALL Draft. In pre-draft analysis on the league website, he was described as 鈥渟hown the ability to take over and dominate games. He also has the athleticism and lacrosse IQ to make it work without the ball in his stick (and) he should be a seamless fit wherever he goes.鈥

In 12 games for the Adanacs in the BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League in 2023, he finished with 20 goals 鈥 which was second on the team 鈥 and 32 points.

鈥淗e goes to the net hard, has a great shot and plays well in reverse transition and can play on either side of the floor at a high level,鈥 said Ryan Williams, the Thunder鈥檚 assistant general manager and director of scouting.

The 18-year-old Leroux is currently attending William Jewell College where the 5-foot-8 midfielder is a freshman on the Cardinals field lacrosse team.

Cardinals coach Ryan Burke describes Leroux as an unselfish player whose game involves grit and hustle.

Leroux played both box and field lacrosse for the Chilliwack Minor Lacrosse Association and won various awards, such as the 2019 Most Outstanding Offensive Player (field) and 2017 and 2018 Player of the Year (box).

Tyler Crompton 鈥 who was president of the Chilliwack field lacrosse association when Leroux was drafted 鈥 called him one of the most gifted lacrosse players to come out of Chilliwack since the Porter brothers, in a Chilliwack Progress story. The Porters (Colton and Zach) both went on to play in the National Lacrosse League.

This is the second off-season trade for 91原创 as they earlier acquired right-handed forward Calum Munro from the Delta Islanders.
