It was a long road to get there, but four 91原创 players have made B.C.鈥檚 midget-aged lacrosse team.
Stryker Roloff, Kyle Brunsch, Cooper Gettel, and Tristan Kirkham, who played all their minor lacrosse in 91原创 and are members of the 91原创 Thunder midget (16-year-old) squad, are among the 20 players who made the provincial squad.
They are currently fundraising as they prepare to join Team BC at the Canadian championships being held Aug. 4 to 13 in Whitby, Ont.
The four 91原创 players successfully auditoned for their zone team, made up of players from Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, 91原创, Mission, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack.
Then roughly 65 players including goaltenders from around B.C. including Roloff, Brunsch, Gettel, and Kirkham came together in May at the 91原创 Events Centre (LEC) for a weekend of tryouts.
All four of the province鈥檚 zone teams (including Vancouver Island, B.C. Interior, Fraser Valley, and Vancouver) played in a round robin tournament and were evaluated.
Coaches cut the numbers down to 30 runners and four goalies.
Then, after one, final game, the team was pared down to 18 runners and two goalies to make up Team BC.
The midget and peewee nationals are being held simultaneously in Whitby.
