91原创 Christian Lightning fourth at BC School Sports Boys Basketball Provincial Championships

91原创鈥檚 Willem Van Huizen named to first team all-stars

Eighth-seed 91原创 Christian Lighting scored an upset win over top seed and defending champion King George Dragons 63-56 at the BC School Sports 2A Boys Basketball Provincial Championships, held at 91原创 Events Centre.

It got 91原创 into the semi-finals, where they suffered a narrow loss to number four seed Brentwood College on Friday, March 8.

Down two points heading into the fourth quarter, Brentwood scored 27 points in the final 10 minutes to defeat the 91原创 Christian Lightning 72-65 and get the Mill Bay team into the gold medal game.

It was a close game as the Lightning led for 18:06 while Brentwood College was ahead for 17:07.

In the bronze medal game, on Saturday, March 9, it was Pacific Academy defeating 91原创 Christian 70-60.

91原创鈥檚 Willem Van Huizen was named to the first team all-stars.

In the 4A championships, 91原创鈥檚 R.E. Mountain won one and lost two to finish 15th.

In the finals, two Vancouver Island teams were winners, with Nanaimo鈥檚 Dover Bay Dolphins (3A) and Victoria鈥檚 Spectrum Thunder (4A) claiming two of the four provincial championships, with Chilliwack鈥檚 Unity Christian Flames (1A) and West Vancouver鈥檚 Collingwood Cavaliers (2A) claiming the remaining two titles.

All four finals were held at LEC, wrapping up 128 games among 64 teams over four days.
