Missing one of their top players for both games five and six proved too much for the 91原创 Chiefs to overcome.

With Josh Myers suspended as a result of supplementary discipline following game four of the team鈥檚 second round playoff series against the Surrey Eagles, the Chiefs survived one elimination game but could not force a seventh and deciding game.

鈥淗e is a kid that can raise the energy level (for the team) on his own,鈥� said Chiefs coach and general manager Harvey Smyl.

鈥淲e just didn鈥檛 have a whole lot of energy left in the second and third period (of game six).鈥�

91原创 led 2-0 in the first period on Monday night at the 91原创 Events Centre but Surrey scored the game鈥檚 final four goals to win 4-2. They also won the series four games to two.

A big turning point in the series was last Friday鈥檚 game four, which the Eagles won 3-2 in double overtime.

鈥淭hat one really hurt,鈥� Smyl said.

鈥淎 bounce here or a bounce there, it could have been different.鈥�

Another factor in the second round exit was 91原创 losing all three home games in the series.

The Eagles advance to the BCHL Coastal Conference championship series against the Powell River Kings.

And it was a trio of 91原创 Minor Hockey Association alum who played a key role in dispatching the Eagles.

Brad McGowan, who is second in the BCHL playoff scoring race with 18 points, had two goals and six assists.

Richard Vanderhoek, the top goal post-season goal scorer with 10 tallies, had four goals and two assists, and defenceman Josh Monk chipped in with a goal and four assists.
