Maddie Millsip likes to keep herself busy.

鈥淚 think I am more productive when I am busy,鈥� admitted the 91原创 Secondary Grade 12 student.

鈥淚 am very structured; the things I have to do, I get done because I know I have to get them done.鈥�

For the past two years, Millsip 鈥� who carries a 99 per cent average in her courses and has placed within the top 25 per cent in Canada in several math contests 鈥� has been 91原创 Secondary鈥檚 top academic achiever.

And it is not just the classroom where she excels.

At the provincial high school wrestling championships, Millsip 鈥� who wrestles for the 91原创 United Wrestling Club (which is made up of students from 91原创 Secondary, Brookswood and D.W. Poppy) 鈥� won bronze in her weight class.

Up until last year when she hung up her skates to concentrate on wrestling, Millsip was part of the 91原创 Figure Skating Club鈥檚 synchronized skating team.

She also dances as part of her school鈥檚 Fine Arts Intensive Program,

She hopes to wrestle at the university level, while also studying business.

鈥淚 really like the fitness of it and the individuality of the sport,鈥� she said. 鈥淎ny success or any failure can be attributed to how hard you work.鈥�

Millsip also does musical theatre, vocal jazz and choir.

Outside of school, she volunteers with the Nikomekl Enhancement Society and is the founder of Youthatch, which encourages youth involvement in the salmon hatchery.

She was one of the seven nominees for the Township of 91原创's Pete Swensson outstanding community youth award.
