With three games to go in the regular season, the 91原创 Junior Thunder offence is finding its game.
The Thunder had back-to-back 17-goal games as they posted a pair of weekend victories, knocking off the Victoria Junior Shamrocks 17-16 on Saturday in Victoria before returning to 91原创 and pounding the Nanaimo Junior Timbermen 17-8.
It marked the first time since early June that 91原创 had won consecutive games as they improved to 10-8-0, good for third place in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League.
The Thunder have also won three of their last four games, scoring 49 goals in the victories.
Against Victoria, the teams were tied at 10 after 40 minutes and combined for 13 goals in the final frame.
Nathan Kozevnikov had a hat trick in the third period alone as he finished with seven goals for 91原创, scoring on half his 14 shots. Mitch McDole and Ryan Martel both finished with a goal and five helpers.
Trevor Chernoff also had three goals and one assist while Dawson Rodin, Nathan Mckeigan and Caleb Pearson each also had four point games with a goal and three assists apiece.
Mason Hicks (one goal, two assists) and Tyson Kirkness (one goal) rounded out the scoring.
Torin Vanrheenan finished with 28 saves on 39 shots, while also setting up a pair of goals. Jake Sundar also saw time in the 91原创 goal with six saves on 11 shots and also finishing with an assist.
Back at the 91原创 Events Centre on Sunday afternoon, the Thunder offence continued where it left off the day before in Victoria.
Martel led the offence with five goals and 10 points while Connor Watson (two goals, three assists), Kirkness (two goals, one assist) and Quinn McKitrick (two goals, one assist) all had multi-goal games.
Caleb Pearson (one goal, four assists) and Chernoff (one goal, there assists) also had big games. Kieran McKay, Mason Hicks, Kozevnikov and Mackenzie Rope all had a goal apiece.
Sundar stopped 35 shots while also registering a pair of assists in goal for 91原创.
The Thunder are back in action with a pair of games this week: Thursday (June 29) at the LEC against the Delta Islanders and then the next night at the Poco Rec Centre against the Saints.
