The 91Ô´´ Jr. Blaze snapped a rare two-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory on Wednesday (June 8) night.

The U16 baseball team, which has lost only four games, all season, returned to their winning ways with a convincing 6-1 victory over the White Rock Jr. Tritons at South Surrey Athletic Park.

91Ô´´ scored twice in the top of the first inning and after White Rock got one of those runs back, Mitchell Kennedy shut the door the rest of the way. He finished the game with five strikeouts, allowing just four hits and one walk.

He improved to a league-best 9-0, including seven complete games in his 10 starts.

Preston Kokatailo led the offence with three hits and three RBIs, while Nick Rutckyj drove in a pair.

Rutckyj leads the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League with 31 RBIs and a .459 batting average, while Kokatailo is second with 26 RBIs and third at .419.

The victory improves the Blaze to 24-4 and gives them a 2.5 game lead over second place North Delta.
