Jr. A 91原创 Thunder players win league honours

Rookie of the year, and most sportsmanlike player

One is rookie of the year, the other is, once again, the most sportsmanlike player in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League.

91原创 Thunder players Austin Vanichuk and Jaiden Terry were among the award winners announced by the league on Aug. 16.

Vanichuk was the recipient of the Marcolis Gilson Award as Rookie of the Year following a season in which he led 91原创 in assists (32) and points (47) and was second in goals (15).

He also finished in the top 20 in league scoring and was also named to the BCJALL All-Rookie Team. At the end of the Thunder鈥檚 season, Vanichuk was also named the team鈥檚 Most Valuable Player, Top Offensive Player and Top Rookie.

鈥淲inning this award is a testament to both the skill and determination of Austin and shows the potential he has in this game,鈥 said Ryan Williams, the Thunder鈥檚 assistant general manager.

Terry was presented the Keith McEachren Trophy as the league鈥檚 Most Sportsmanlike Player. It is the second straight year Terry has earned the honour.

鈥淐apturing this award for a second straight season truly shows the character that Jaiden displays every time he steps on to the floor,鈥 Williams said.

Terry, a left-handed defender, was traded to the Burnaby Lakers at the BCJALL trade deadline.
