Signing with the Vancouver Giants is the first step towards realizing a dream for 2001-born defenceman Parker Hendren.

The Western Hockey League club, which plays its home games at the 91原创 Events Centre, inked Hendren to a WHL Standard Player Agreement.

The Giants selected Hendren in the seventh round of the 2016 WHL bantam draft.

鈥淲e have been very happy with Parker鈥檚 development,鈥� Giants general manager Glen Hanlon said.

鈥淲e made it a priority to sign Parker because of his improved play from start to finish last season. By signing Parker, we will now be able to personally work with him to help him take the next step to the WHL level.鈥�

Hendren, a Regina product, played midget AAA for the Regina Pat Canadians in 2016/17, tallying 15 points in 43 games. He helped the Pat Canadians to the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League championship and a spot in the Telus Cup, Canada鈥檚 national midget tournament.

鈥淚t means a lot to me,鈥� said Hendren of inking with the G-Men. 鈥淚鈥檓 really excited. I鈥檝e always dreamt about playing in the WHL, so it means a lot.鈥�
